Privacy policy
Your drives, your data.
The short version
- DriveFR uses your precise location to record drives, including in the background while a drive is being recorded.
- Your drives are stored on your phone and backed up to your account with Google Firebase. Only you can read your drives.
- Your @username is public. Your rating, country and drive count are public only while “Show me on leaderboards” is on.
- We don't sell your data, don't show ads that track you, and don't use your data to train AI.
- You can export or delete your data at any time. See Delete your account.
1. Who we are
DriveFR (“DriveFR”, “we”, “us”) is a drive-tracking app for Android made by an independent developer. We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at privacy@drivefr.app.
This website, drivefr.app, sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no third-party scripts or fonts.
2. What we collect

We don't access your contacts, camera, microphone, photos, messages or call history.
3. How we use it
- To run the app: recording drives, filtering GPS noise, scoring your driving, showing your route map, unlocking City Cards and warning you about danger zones.
- To keep your account: signing you in and restoring your drives on a new phone.
- For social features you choose: leaderboards, friends and head-to-head comparisons.
We process this data because it's needed to provide the app you asked for, and, for public leaderboard stats and background location, because you chose to turn them on. You can turn either off at any time.
4. What other drivers see
- Always: your @username, so friends can find you.
- Only while “Show me on leaderboards” is on: your country, rating, weekly change, number of drives and average sub-scores. Turning the setting off removes this profile.
- Never: your routes, where you drove, when you drove, or your email address.
5. Services we rely on
DriveFR uses these outside services. Each receives only what is listed.

Like any website, these services can see your device's IP address when the app contacts them. Danger-zone warnings and city lookups use data stored inside the app and send nothing.
6. What we never do
- Sell or rent your personal data.
- Share your location or drives with insurers, advertisers or data brokers.
- Use your data to train AI models.
- Show ads that track you. The app has no advertising SDK today. If that changes, we'll update this policy first.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account and backed-up drives for as long as your account exists. Data stored only on your phone is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data. When you delete your account, we delete your backed-up data as described below.
8. Your choices and rights
- Export: Settings → Privacy → Export your data gives you everything on your phone as a .zip of JSON, CSV and GPX files.
- Leaderboards: turn “Show me on leaderboards” off in Settings to remove your public stats.
- Location: you can remove background location, or all location access, in Android settings at any time. Recording needs location while a drive is running.
- Auto-tracking: turn it off in Settings to stop activity detection.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK), you can also ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict your data, object to its processing, or receive a copy of it. Email privacy@drivefr.app and we'll reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority.
9. Delete your account
You can delete your DriveFR account and its data at any time.
In the app
- Open DriveFR and tap the settings icon.
- Tap your @username under Account.
- Tap Delete account, then tap again to confirm.
By email, if you no longer have the app
Email privacy@drivefr.app from the address you signed up with, with the subject “Delete my DriveFR account”. Include your @username.
What gets deleted: your sign-in, your backed-up drives and routes, your @username, your leaderboard profile, and your friend connections and requests. We complete deletion within 30 days of your request.
Drives stored on your phone are removed when you uninstall the app. Shared city photos and facts aren't personal data and stay available to all drivers.
10. Security
All data travels over encrypted connections (TLS). Your backed-up drives are protected by access rules that let only your signed-in account read them. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password or sign in with Google.
11. Children
DriveFR is made for licensed drivers and isn't meant for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how your data is used in a significant way, we'll also tell you in the app before it takes effect.
